Re: stage 1 breast cancer at the age of 40

Hi Gaynor,

I am 42 and have a 10 year old daughter.I was diagnosed on 30th Dec 09. I have no history of BC in the family and as you say it is a real smack in the face!! I will be starting chemo soon as my BC was stage 2 and 2cm.I opted to have the chemo as I want to make sure I have done all I can. My daughter is coping quite well, but sometimes gets a little anxious. Hope your recovery goes well.

Hi Gaynor,

I will have radiotherapy after the chemo.I will not need Tamoxifen hopefully as the chemo should stop my ovaries working.I will keep you posted how everything goes.

Re: stage 1 breast cancer at the age of 40

Hi

I'm a single mother age 41 with 3 kids aged 16, 12 and 5. I too have just been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Been in twice for tissue removal and further results and treatment plan awaited. I feel like ths is happening to someone else and I'm on the outside looking in. Friends and family seem to be more upset about this than I am/

Re: stage 1 breast cancer at the age of 40

Hi!!!

I am 32 and was diagnosed last April whilst pregnant with my second little boy. My oldest one is just 3. It was a huge shock as i thought it was a pregancy related lump. It was stage 3 and i had 44 lymph nodes removed. Luckily only 3 of them had slight traces of cancer on them. I had a lumpewctomy whilst pregnant then 6 lots of chemo followed by 6 weeks of radiotherapy. The radiotherapy was 'easy' compared to the chemo. It was a pain having to go in every day for such a short process and sort out the boys with child care. Makesure you do use the cream they give you. I did get very sore but they are very good at checking you and giving you lotions and potions to help it. I am now having herceptin and will have to take tamoxifen for 5 years. You do get taken away with it all to start with but i then hit a brick wall after about my 4th lot of chemo where i just wanted to be and feel 'normal' again!!! When do you start the radiotherapy?? Would be good to hear from you again. Its good to have contact with people who know what you are going through!!

Take care Jo xxx

Hello again!!!

Its a nightmare sorting out the kids. People dont undertsand that you cant drop everything ang go. Did you ddecide not to have the chemo. I did become sore after the radio and it ended up quite an open wound. They certainly looked after me. Where abouts in the country are you being treated?? is your 3 year old a boy or girl?>? will be thinking about you on the 26th. Not long to go now!!! You take care and keep focused. Keep in touch andf look forward to hearing from you sooon
