Hi,

I was wondering if there is anyone on this site who had, like me, breast cancer after receiving mantel radiotherapy for Hodgkin's lymphoma. If so, would you mind exchanging experiences?

Thank you.

(I am now 31 years old: I had Hodgkin's lymphoma when I was 17 years old, and breast cancer in one breast when I was 30 years old)

Re: Hodgkin's lymphoma and breast cancer

I had hodgkins 5 years ago and have been advised to start having mammograms at the age of 37.......I am currently 35.....I believe that the area I had radiotherapy(my chest) has increased the chances of breast cancer.

Although this is a scary prospect, I believe that it must be better to be monitored early.

I am pleased you are now over the cancer and wish you good health in the future.

Re: Hodgkin's lymphoma and breast cancer

Hi

I had hodgkins at 29 years and then at 49 had breast cancer in the mid breast. Almost text book. Apparently there was a recall in 2003 but I was missed. I wanted a bi lateral mastectomy at the time but my surgeon refused so I had a mastectomy and chemo. last year I had another mastectomy as I had DCIS and felt the risk too high.I am sure there must be others like us.
