Re: havin chemo
Hi Im going through chemo at the moment for breast cancer the first session was the worst I felt so ill i wanted to just die. You will feel better as time goes on hard to believe but true. You also learn to manage the symptoms a little better as well. Im not going to say anything like keep positive because it used to annoy me but you will get through this. I've got two more sessions left and can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Just do what feels right for you and apparently when you feel like crap the chemo is working. I was so ill with my chemo but after the first session the lump reduced by 50 per cent. Hope this helps and that you do start to feel a little bit better Lexie.

Re: havin chemo

Hi cazi, I finished a 6month session of chemo on 10th July, (carboplatin & etoposide), sleeping difficulties I did experience espeacially on the night of my chemo day, sleep would just escape me, but fortunately things did get better apart from the chemo treament day's, the anxiety you may be feeling could be due to the illness, not knowing if your treament is doing you good (which I hope it is) or not. so the sleepless nights was well worth putting up with, sure you will think the same also, only reassurance and advice I can give you is stay positive and look ahead to a future it's not all doom and gloom, I have just finished a course of radiotherapy this afternoon, 1 session a day from last Monday till today, and if you have to have this also, can I reassure you there is nothing frightning or unpleasant attached to it, I had the full brain treated so can only remark on my experience, there is side effects but very minor or in my case upto now, anyway good luck with the rest of your treament, fingers crossed for you.

Cath.

Re: havin chemo

Hi Cazi,

Iv'e had chemo 4 times [Capacitabin & Xylaplatin out of 8, The first time was horrible, but I found by talking to the Chemo nurses and consultant, they could make the side effects more managable, I had terible anxiety which was well out of character for me, the nurses told me it was the Steriods, which I now don't take, which is a lot easier,

As for eating, my Chemo side effects, [ Nausea, Lump in the throat, Tingling Fingers, and aching muscles ] last about 7 days during this period eating is difficult, and I tend to pick at food, After the effects have worn of I am able to eat reasonably normally, avoiding Ice Cream or cold drinks. It's not east Cazi, but keep your hesd up, were part of an elite group, let's fight it together.
