Re: painful joints after chemo

Hi Sandra Ann,

I had chemo in 2008 for ovarian cancer, it effected my joints from the moment I started my chemo.I was not on the same drugs as you, but mine had the same effects. I was left wth the pain even after my treatment finished My feet , hips knees etc, but my feet and hips the worst.

I have been taking Glucosamine for the joints and this has helped quite a bit I have also taken up swimming twice a week. At first I was in a lot of pain the day after I went swimming but i have now built up my muscles again slowly. I still get pain but not as bad as it was.

You can also get Glucosamine & Condritun together, at least i think thats how the second one is spelled, the second one helps as an anti inflammitory and the first one is for the ligaments and tendons.

I hope this has helped , but speak to your doctor or practice nurse and ask them if this would help before you try them.

I wish you the best of luck and evetually freedom from pain.

Regards

Ann

Re: painful joints after chemo
i still suffer from painful joints-mostly hips and knees- and my chemo ended nearly 19 yrs ago. Sadly it seems a common side effect. I keep as active as poss though. I do tae kwondo twice a week and sometimes my hips are really painful but its best to keep moving.

Re: painful joints after chemo

Me too.

Almost 3yrs post treatment, but the hips n knees are pretty painful some days.

Mind you, i have a few existing medical conditions/old injuries too...which is part n parcel of the whole thing.

I find the worse thing is staying in bed too long, my hips ache sooooo much i have to get up, cos i just cant get comfortable.

Grrrrrr.
