Hello

My mum has just had her right lung removed (last Tuesday) she was in hospital for 4 days then they discharged her !!!!! I had contacted ward on the Friday 3 days after operation as they were arranging to discharge her and agreement made for my mum to stay in longer. She was discharged with paracetomol and diclofenic, I did query all of this however was assured this was appropriate pain management and she was fit and healthy for discharge ??? Upon discharge my mum was in severe pain(to the point she did not care if she lived or died), vomiting and constipated ( had not moved her bowels since last tuesday and the ward staff did not medicate for this even though on opiate medication???? thankfully the out of hours Gp practise was fantastic when i contacted them they arranged pain relief, medication for sickness and constipation, a Doctor then visited plus two lots of district nurses within 36 hours of my initial call . They all suggested i take her back to hospital which i wanted to do however the fear and anxiety my mum displayed hospital was last resort. Due to the pain etc..has had an impact on her breathing and now she is on anti biotic's and inhaler. Has anybody else had similiar experience as i'm sure a discharge plan should of been inplace plus appropriate pain relief and an assessment of bowels and nausea, i don't know just think could of been dealt with better!!

sorry for off loading

finn xx
